About us

We began life in 2009 as a idea from George Shakeshaft & Andrew Bettinson for a kickabout between work colleagues and friends in a park during the summer. Enthusiasm soon took over, that & the aversion to being bitten by horse flies and we decided to make it a dedicated night at a local 5 a side centre moving away from the park. In 2010 we formed WMAS FC with a view to playing football matches and tournaments for fun and to raise much needed funds for local and national charities. West Midlands Ambulance Service kindly helped us to buy the strips and between ourselves we raised the money to buy the rest of the equipment. We have tried & tested several venues for our Wednesday night football sessions before eventually settling at Newcastle under Lyme College Staffordshire. The Squad is predominantly made up of ambulance service staff with a light sprinkling of non service people mainly offspring and relations of staff and due to work committments the squad tends to change for every game. So far we have helped to raise around £11,000 for charities such as Midlands Air Ambulance,Help For Heroes, Donna Louise Children's Hospice and others with the help of colleagues at WMAS Patient transport & WMAS South locality. Fortunately we have a group of people who are very committed to supporting any events WMAS FC undertake, people who donate not only there valuable time away from work but donate financially to every charity event we participate in, also some of the squad give time to there own fundraising missions such a multiple marathon running and charity cycle rides. WMAS FC have organised various events including 11 a side football matches, 5 a side football tournaments, fundays with charity stalls and live music evenings and are always on the look out for idea's for future events.
